Thousands of Estonians came together on May 22, 2022 at the Tallinn Song Festival Grounds to sing together "Oi u luzi chervona kalyna" (“The Red Viburnum in the Meadow”) for Ukraine. Choral singing has always been a powerful cultural phenomenon that Estonians have repeatedly used in their own fight for freedom. Singers came from all corners of Estonia to send the power of song to help Ukranians in their fight for freedom.

Ukraine needs all of our support: both moral and financial. Let’s continue to support Ukraine any way we can. Our charity partner is Razom for Ukraine in the United States. Please consider donating to them here.

The event is organized by photographer Kaupo Kikkas, entrepreneur Enno Rätsep and composer Jonas Tarm. "The desire of our choir singers to show their support together is clear – we will help Ukraine in every possible way. It is important that the world does not forget for a moment what is happening in Ukraine and that this support does not subside or get tired. Only the power of Estonian choral song was still missing.” says Kaupo Kikkas about the project.

The event took place as a citizens' initiative thanks to dozens of volunteers and supporters. More than a 100 Estonian choirs from almost all counties joined the public call, in addition, two choirs from the United States and singers from Ukraine, the United Kingdom, Finland, Sweden, Iran and Poland arrived. A TV special on Estonian National TV will be broadcast and the music video will be available on all social media platforms called “Estonia Sings for Ukraine” on May 23rd, 2022.
